Our Allergist: Dr Laura Ispas-Ponas

Sonoran Allergy and Asthma Center is the office of Dr. Laura Ispas-Ponas. She provides comprehensive Allergy, Asthma and Immunology care for patients of all ages.

Dr. Laura Ispas-Ponas was born in Romania. She attended and completed Medical School in Timisoara, Romania. She came to the states in 1991 and completed her medical training with a Residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Allergy, Asthma, Immunology at East Carolina University in North Carolina.

She is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Board Eligible in her specialty. She holds active membership in the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, Immunology, as well as the American Medical Association and the Greater Arizona Allergy Society. Dr. Ispas holds Consulting Staff appointments at the Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center and Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Hospital. She is also a published author and is active in clinical research involving trial medications.

Her interests, besides treating patients with a variety of allergic diseases, include teaching and clinical research as well as medical writing. She gives many "Presentations" to teach Residents and Primary Care Physicians about new ways to treat Allergies and Asthma. Dr.Ispas is married to Dr. Stephen Ponas, a Urologist in Phoenix.
